Video contest winners for “Why Open Education Matters”

On July 18, 2012, the U.S. Department of Education, Creative Commons, and the Open Society Foundations announced the winners of the Why Open Education Matters video competition. The competition was launched in March to solicit “creative videos that clearly communicate the use and potential of free, high-quality Open Educational Resources and describe the benefits and opportunities these materials create for teachers, students, and schools everywhere.”

All of the qualifying videos, including the winners, are licensed CC BY, which means you may distribute, remix, and build upon them, even commercially, as long as you give credit to the creators.

We’ve embedded the first-place video below;  you can check out the others at http://whyopenedmatters.org/blog/2012/07/18/winners-announced/.
